The General Assembly reconvenes its general meeting of IFLA members at the Closing Session on Thursday, 24 August from 16:15–18:00 (CEST). The entire session will be livestreamed on IFLA’s Facebook and YouTube channels.

Every two years, the Closing Session is a time to witness the moment when two IFLA Presidencies and Governing Boards come full circle.  This year is such a time.

A new President, President-elect and Governing Board will all officially commence their duties at the end of IFLA WLIC 2017. Donna Scheeder will make her final address as IFLA President and Glòria Pérez-Salmerón will make her first.  And as one Governing Board term comes to a close, another one is just beginning.

During the Closing Session, official IFLA Awards (Best IFLA Poster, Professional Unit Communication Award, Honours and Premier Awards) will also be handed out. These awards are huge achievements for recipients and IFLA is proud to see them go to the best of the best from the global library community.  A full list of award winners will be posted in a separate news piece at the conclusion of this session.
