Call for Papers—Subject Access now: Inspiring, surprising, empowering
For the Classification & Indexing Section Open Session we invite presentations showing new and innovative ways of providing subject access to users from all types of libraries – approaches or applications that are inspiring, surprising, empowering.
For example:
- Do you provide subject access to resources through innovative library architecture and shelving design?
- Is your library environment and equipment closely connected to user needs in finding, selecting and exploring topics?
- Have you designed new or particularly creative tools for navigating subject repositories?
- Do you use subject metadata in unexpected ways in recommendation services?
- Is there a connection between your subject access policies and inspiring learning environments?
- Do you offer innovative genre access for fiction, children’s literature, or audiovisual media?
- Do you feel you work in a user-driven institution with a social tagging success story?
- Are you focusing on user needs applying subject access tools that empower or surprise your users?
If so, then please consider submitting a short paper to present at our Open Session in Helsinki.
We are particularly interested in presentations from Finnish libraries or libraries of the Baltic/Scandinavian area.
Proposals must be submitted by 15 February, 2012 to Lynne C. Howarth, University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada, at: lynne.howarth@utoronto.ca.
