In order to mitigate some of the resource implications of collection and description many NBAs also define collecting levels that should be applied for resources, e.g.:

  • Comprehensive
  • Research
  • Instructional support
  • General
  • Minimal
  • Representative sample (this includes criteria stipulating that the NBA collects only a sample of resources of a particular type or format).
