Front page of the IFLA Brief on the UNESCO Internet Universality IndicatorsWith the internet playing an increasing role in our economic, social and cultural lives, the importance of it being inclusive grows. IFLA’s new brief explains a new tool for assessing whether this is the case.

UNESCO has recently published produced a set of ‘Internet Universality Indicators’ as a means of supporting national and global debate about how to ensure that everyone can benefit from the internet.

The indicators cover a wide range of issues, many of which are familiar to libraries through their existing work to provide universal and equitable access to information.

They provide a potential tool for libraries, both in thinking about how equitably the internet is working, but also in building partnerships and advocacy for change.
