Success in the mission of libraries relies heavily on peace. War and conflict, beyond immediate harm to people and buildings, holds back education, culture and research.

Yet libraries do not need to be victims – they can contribute to building, rebuilding, and maintaining peace in their communities.

Based on presentations at the World Library and Infomration Congress, IFLA has produced an article summarising just four of the ways in which libraries do this, through building understanding, promoting inclusion, giving space for healing, and ensuring remembrance.

You can download the article as a pdf.
